Description of the project
The thermonet was established approximately 20 years ago, and was initiated by the local owner, who operates a company producing heat pumps. The company produces, due to its activities, a periodically large amount og excess heat, while the need for heat and cooling depends on the time of year. Due to the building density on the property, it was not possible to establish horizontal collectors. Luckily, the neighbouring property had the space needed, and would also be able to benefit from the thermonet. The thermonet supplies a total of three buidlings – a household, a factory and a private commercial property. The thermonet supplies both heating and cooling. The energy source consists of 1000 meters horizontal geothermal pipes, and connects to two heat pumps, one on each property. The brine is 20% ethanol and 80% water. Whenever heat pumps are being tested in the factory, they deliver excess heat back into the thermonet, ensured by a water cooling system and heat exchangers.

Highlights of the project
Generally, a thermonet is more affodable than individual geothermal heating, due to the establishing proces. Furthermore, the properties will not have to undergo excavation. By utilizing excess production heat, thermonet can contribute to the sustainability profile of companies. The companies can get rid of their outdoor condensators and ventilators, and neighboring residents can benefit from the otherwise wasted heat.
